Growing for a Cause
Do you know the price of a dozen eggs today?
We realize it might be an odd question. Yet, individuals in crisis, at-risk families, and those living in poverty are often painfully aware of the cost of each item. In today’s economy, we all are.
I have worked at a domestic violence shelter and seen firsthand how a warm meal can help ease the situation. Nutrition is so important, not only in everyday life, but especially when healing from trauma. Many boxed and canned goods are donated, however, those items only go so far and are not always healthy options. Fresh food is important in providing nutrition. Our crops are growing strong, and women and children can benefit from the fresh food that goes hand in hand with a fresh start.
Our Farm
Job 36:31 says, “He will nourish our bodies and give us food in Abundance”. Our mission is to provide fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat to domestic violence shelters in the Michiana area. There is
tremendous power in the ability to combine what we do best, with the needs that exist in our community. We believe that together, we can help our neighbors experience food in abundance.
Our Why
Between January 2022 and January 2023 Grocery prices increased across the board by
about 11% due to inflation. Egg prices alone jumped 70% in that time frame. Although the
costs have since gone down, the challenge of access to fresh and wholesome food
continues. Domestic violence shelters cook and serve meals every day providing the warmth and comfort that can only come from a home cooked meal to those in need. With today’s rising good food prices, however, those shelters are finding it to stay on budget. This is why we created The Abundant Acre. Together we can combat the price fluctuations that limit good food options.

Do you want to make a difference by helping to provide fresh food to those in need? In order to provide as much food as possible, additional investment and resources are needed to grow and harvest the food,
partner with local domestic violence shelters, and package and transport food. Together, we can foster abundance. Can we count on you and your donation to share the abundance with those in need?
